ABOUT

I work with a variety of mediums, using play to lead direction and valuing process over outcome. My work serves as therapy and a tool for introspection.

I use found objects. Rummaging through skips and finding everyday materials in overlooked places allows me to access their psychological qualities, while keeping me mindfully engaged and connected with my surroundings. I prefer to emphasize what a material does or how it sounds over its appearance or definition.

My paintings are cathartic expressions, processing my mind. They exist for me and, until recently, have been private. Working from gut instinct, the work changes as my state alters. Sometimes violently destroying sections, followed by slow, careful consideration. Burning, scratching, and collaging into surfaces create multiple layers and an interplay between chance, emotion, and contemplation.

Whereas, my installations aim to help the viewer. Informed by my experience, I reimagine therapy processes as kinetic visual expressions. I process ideas as 3D spaces and use installation to communicate. I create environments that encourage a child-like sense of fun and wonder, meant to be experienced more than understood, accessible without formal art education

My intention is to broaden conversations on mental health and encourage self-reflection, creating experiences that can shift us out of everyday thinking and question perception. Moments of play and humor are crucial catalysts for something new.
